tsunami warning

in case you missed it, we had a tsunami warning. it was downgraded to, i guess, nothing, 2 hours after it was meant to hit us.  1 hour after it was meant to arrive, our nieghbour clanked the lock on our gate to check if we knew about the tsunami, that was sposed to already be here and gone but wasn’t, maybe in 2 more hours…..all very confusing. Well, there was a tsunami, we were fortunate that fiji was unaffected by the last word i heard via radio. Solomon Islands were not so fortunate.  This was a very frightening thought, as soon as i heard the word ‘tsunami’ i lifted my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help….(sound familiar? psalmists…?) well, i was already planning my higher ground escape. Not that we would have really needed it where we live but still, a very frightening idea just the same. feeling sorry for the loss of those loved ones in the recent tsunami this side of the world.

we are still under military rule, coup or whatever. it will be decided soon if we are still in a  state of emergency and then that will dictate what direction the government and/or military (could be the same these days, who really knows?) will go in. ie/ elections etc…

did you know that there was a cyclone kara recently round about broome, Australia? well, other than the ‘kara sea’ that will be my claim to fame.  ahh, yes, and the girl ’starbuck’ on battlestar gallactica, her name is kara also. that’s the kind of chick i’d dig to be. tough, shoots guns from airplane and has a coffee brandname! (we are just watching season 1 of that show, i believe it’s about 3 yrs old, we are only just know hearing about it, thanks to broadband internet or something like it!)

I cooked a ‘golden empire’ for dinner…sounds interesting? well, it was a fish..plenty meat. gutted it myself and didn’t really feel like eating it after that. i know, i’m so tough! $18.00fj for about a 5-6 lb fish.(that’s about $9.00us) was good.
